The experiments at CERN seem to have gone with out a hitch and the Earth has not been sucked into a man made black hole (I've seen something similar happen at the Hoist I'm sure)
But I was thinking about it this morning when watching GMTV (I know I should be listening to Radio 4 but I'm too low rent at that time of day) apparently when they reported about it yesterday and the fact that there was a minuscule possibility that it could cause oblivion ( as if) the 14 year old daughter of one viewer got terribly distraught. I had to laugh. It may be a nihilist streak but would that be such a bad thing, and I presume if it was to happen in the way to doom sayers claimed we wouldn't be aware of it happening anyway, unlike for example the wait for a huge meteor to hit the earth or if a nuclear warhead was to land in Trafalgar Square. In fact it sounds like quite a neat way to go.
I remember Ultravox video for Dancing with Tears in my Eyes where Midge Ure is rushing home before the bomb finally falls. I've often thought where I'd like to be if such a situation was to happen. I have two locations. The first is on a the cliff top over looking Mwnt, in West Wales. The second at Duckie on a Saturday Night with some fantastic tunes being played by the Readers Wifes, and possibly Wee Lee dancing on stage.
