The good old days

Third night of drinking but thankfully no hangover.

Duckie again, - and for the first time since June 2007 I was accompanied at activity island by Mark, who was down from his new home in Glasgow. It was good to see him, and it appears that moving North of the border has improved his time keeping. It was however difficult to have a really good catch up as Duckie is not exactly the quietest of venues, and we were joined not long after his arrival by his psycho lesbian friend, who dominated the conversation with her wittering.

I didn't let that spoil my enjoyment.

Two acts, - again introduced by Amy substitutes. (I really should get round to watching at least one show of CelebAir)

Dickie Beau - who on the surface appeared to be nothing more than your basic lip syncing drag act, but turned out to be rather good. I'm not one to get into analysing acts for a deeper meaning but my understanding of it as that it was an attempt to draw parallels between the fucked up lives of Britney Spears and Judy Gallarnd, suggesting that both were more or less forced into the show biz game , without actually asking them what they wanted.

The second act was Nathan's - Human Rights/ Anti-surveillance striptease where he is dressed as a Queen. It's Ok, but having now seen it three time it has lost it's impact somewhat.

Music was good as ever, and for the first time in a while I really got into the dancing mood, poggoing along to St Etienne's He's on the Phone, and waving my hands wildly to From New York To LA. The funniest moment of the night was when a rather nice skinhead tried to entice me to dancing with him on stage saying I was good looking. The disco lights must be quite complimentary if he thought that.
Got talking with QueerRoyale again, where we suggested what we thought should be on the Dickie ten commandments, such as

1. Don't wear a bloody rucksack on your back when there's a perfectly good cloakroom.
2. Don't ask when men are queuing up to use the ladies
3. If Wee Lee is dancing to Kate Bush trying to out stage him will end in failure
