In as much as she is the perfect target for some iconoclasm.
Last night's Duckie was one of the most rammed in recent memory. Busy yet good tempered.
Three acts. The wonderful Jonny Woo singing Women of Mass Destruction, with a warning to check for the drag queen's under your bed. And his tongue twisting warning about the dangers pill popping and what happened to Peter and Polly Piper when they ignored the dangers.
Timberlina, and her guitar, with an anti-Sarah Palin song which was greeted with applause when it culminated in her being described by that word favoured by Duckie regular CUNT.
The final act was Justin Bond fresh from his appearance at the Soho Theatre, accompanied by the dexterously talented Our Lady J on keyboards. He pleased the crowd with his announcement that he would be going back to the states to vote, and then sang a foot stomping welcome of the demise of the current Bush regime, tinged with a slight fear that the US and in fact the rest of the world could be lumbered with McCain, and therefore Palin.
I said three acts, actually there were four.
Over the past few weeks Duckie has had a theme called Duckie de Trop, with some additional performance art going one outside the main stage, I think the had buskers in the first week, last week, punters were given the opportunity to mouth off to a taxi driver whilst sitting in the back of a black cab. This week, for one week only Duckie played host to a Dark Room. Of course being a Duckie Dark Room, it wasn't going to be full of lost souls from the Hoist further down South Lambeth Road.
I didn't visit but Queerroyale did and told us about it (visiting maybe the wrong word as he was dragged there by the hostess). Once in he was sat down and invited to talk about an object he might have had in his pocket and the associated memories, the object was then photographed and developed and will appear on a blog somewhere.
The music was of course wonderful, and having been in two minds earlier in the day if I would go, in fact as late as 8.30 I was lying in bed contemplating an early night I am glad I ventured out.
Carrying on the Sarah Palin theme I have to say that I still smile at Sandi Toksvig's comments on last weeks News Quiz on Radio 4 -
Sarah Palin is the ultimate hockey mom - Ice cold and needs hitting repeatedly with sticks
