I've got chills...

Cold isn't it, and apparently it will get colder although I am not convinced by Metcheck's assertion that it will be minus 5 on Friday.

The problem with the fact that it will get colder is that I won't feel the benefit of the thermals, as i've already been wearing them on and off for the last few weeks.

I doubt that we will have snow - does it snow in London in November? But with any luck the nights will be clear and crisp, making the walk home from work and enjoyable one. Dark cold moonlit walks along the Thames can't be beaten.

However it again reminds me on how soft I have become in the decade and a half I have been in London. Now as soon as it falls below 10 degrees I want to turn on the heating, yet as a child, I lived in a house with no central heating and with the exception of one huge heater which was used to help air clothes and lived under a clothes horse, the only form of heating in the house was one of two coal fires - only one of which was ever in action at any one time.

Perhaps as an anti-social teenager my sullen misery kept me warm, and stopped me feeling the cold air of a Welsh winter.
